How to Find Your Serial, Model or Casting Number Crowley Marine Mercury Outboards The serial number tag is located on the SWIVEL BRACKET (port or starboard); or, check the INSTRUCTION PLATE, located between the thumb screws above the steering tube. Mariner Outboards The serial number tag is located on the top outside edge of the CLAMP BRACKET; or, on top of the SWIVEL BRACKET (port or starboard).

MerCruiser Engines: The serial number tag is located near the STARTER, by the flywheel housing; or, on the ROCKER ARM or FLAME ARRESTOR COVER. Transom plates: The serial number tag is located on the INNER TRANSOM PLATE inside the boat; or, on the UPPER SWIVEL PIN. Sterndrives: The serial number tag is located on the UPPER DRIVE SHAFT HOUSING (starboard side or on the back of the housing). Johnson/Evinrude The model number tag is located on the top outside edge of the CLAMP BRACKET; or, on top of the SWIVEL BRACKET (port or starboard). OMC The model number tag is located on the ROCKER ARM cover. Force Casting Number The cast number is located under the ignition plate on the starboard side of the block, beside the top bypass cover.
Mercruiser Engine Block Serial Number 3970010
The cast number will be either a six-digit number ending in 010 or a number starting with either 800 or 818, ending with C, then a number. For example: 800-153-C6.
